If you are not regretful of your sins,
How will you repent of your sins?
How will you seek forgiveness?
How will you change from doing wrong to right?
There can be no repentance when you are not remorseful or regretful of your wrong ways.
Not regretting your wrong but seeking repentance is like someone who has offended you telling you,
'I do not regret hurting you but I am sorry, please forgive me'. How can you be sorry for hurting someone,
Without regretting hurting the person?
How can you be asking for forgiveness,
When you don't regret the offence you seek forgiveness?
It is pride that puts us in the position not to regret or be remorseful of our wrongs.
It is a display of arrogance to claim you do not regret committing sin but you still seek forgiveness from sin.
It was the same pride that made king Saul lose the throne for himself and his lineage.
Each time King Saul sinned in 1st Samuel chapters 13 and 15,
He did not regret his sinful acts,
He did not ask God for forgiveness and repent;
Rather, he was more concerned about the people,
He was more interested in Prophet Samuel accompanying him before the people,
So, he could still be seen as the king before the Israelites,
While God has already rejected him as King.
After, the death of Saul,
In 2nd Samuel chapter 2,
When the Israelites came to enthrone David as king,
They told David that,
Even when Saul was the king,
You (David) were the one we recognized as the king.
The people that King Saul was wasting his time to please,
And in return displeasing God,
Eventually became displeased with Saul.
Do not waste your time to displease God,
Just to please some people,
Because those people will still not be pleased with you.
According to Proverbs chapter 21 vs 1,
It is God that can turn the heart of kings (and every human being) from being displeased with you to become pleased with you.
It is God that can make your enemies be pleased with you,
Once you have pleased God,
