And I've been happily rocking them since. Just look at it, how can you not love this piece of art?

Now, a little more info about these wheels, the larger Type-F wheels (17inch and above) are of a 2-piece hybrid design. It is built with an SSF (Semi-Solid Forged) face welded to a cast barrel - that's why you see that welding mark on these genuine pieces.

Having previously owned a set of replicas, one of the glaring difference, is the spokes on the genuine piece. These are much thinner, a sign of the strength of the SSF technology - there isn't a need for all that extra material!

The result, is a low 7+kg (just under 7kg with my bathroom scale in fact), 17x8 inch wheel. As a point of comparison, my previous Thai-made cast replica of a similar spec was just over 9kg a piece!

Manufactured in 1940-1941 and still in great shape.

I found this little beauty in a local antique store and I had to hide the excitement when I realized what was in the case. I've wanted one of these for many years, but the prices have always put it out of reach.

I cleaned and sanitized it, so that I can give it a try. Will it live up to the high expectations? We shall see. Either way, it's an absolute thing of beauty.
