The lemons and remoras have a symbiotic relationship. The remoras clean the sharks of parasites and in return the sharks provide protection as well as the occasional meal for them. The sharks are sometimes messy eaters and the remoras scavenge any dropped food as well as eat the sharks poop. Nature wastes nothing.

I have been after this shot for a long time. Most of the time when a shark is getting cleaned when you try and approach them they will close their mouths. It is still not perfect, because they will open their mouths even wider and that is the shot I really am after. Managed to get 18 dives in and only one dive without tigers, but it was a night dive. We made up for it on our final night dive where we had five massive tigers roll in. 😳. We had eight different tigers this week, with seven on one dive. @nevinsmitch wearing an @oceantechnologysystems full face communication mask called the "Guardian", giving love and affection to a lemon shark when we were both interrupted by a photo bombing tiger shark at tiger beach. Having my guests make friends with sharks like this, allows me to remove their relentless number of hooks that they regularly get to remove the pain that are caused by these! I'm so grateful for their help, as I don't want any shark to be left in pain! Notice how calm everyone is, as the true nature of Sharks so much different than what is portrayed in films that sensationalize these Beautiful Creatures, trying to depict them as mindless man eating monsters which they quite simply are not. In fact sharks don't look at people as a food source at all and a shark attack is actually a shark mistake and the proof is in the statistics as they spit out the mistake and move on. At any given moment Jim can be surrounded by 30 or more tiger, reef and lemon sharks. But Jim has a unique relationship with these underwater predators who swim up to him for affectionate nose-rubs.

He wants to educate people about the impact that overfishing and the fin trade is having on shark populations in oceans around the world.
