It’s fall here in New England so we are celebrating everything pumpkin and the hot drinks are back!

Hot pumpkin lattes are especially popular, but they do pack a wallop when it comes to sugar.

Not to be a killjoy, but the sugar count in some of the more popular coffee shops is around 50 grams and up, which is not ideal if you’re looking to balance your hormones, not fly off the handle or crash mid-afternoon.

Here's a healthier option, which has minimal sugar, good fat from coconut milk and cinnamon to help balance blood sugar and keep hormones, mood and energy stable.

📌 1 cup organic coffee (I used decaf Purity coffee, but Bulletproof is another organic, no mold coffee bean)

📌2 TBL pumpkin purée

📌1 TBL honey (omit or substitute stevia for lower sugar)

📌1/2 tsp cinnamon

📌1/2 tsp ground ginger

📌1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

📌3/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk

📌1/2 tsp vanilla extract

In your blender add all the ingredients except for the coffee and blend. Then pour coffee into the blender and blend again until frothy. Pour into cups and top with more pumpkin pie spice.

*for those with SIBO the best coconut milk to use is one from Native Forest that says “no guar” on it as guar gum can be problematic for some.

3 superfoods for reducing toxins in the gut! - SAVE & SHARE THIS


Most vegetables are very irritating to the gut - but there are 3 superfood veggies that, when consumed properly, contain beneficial fibers & antibacterial properties for supporting the health & function of the gut!

These are:
🥕raw carrots
🎋boiled bamboo shoots
🍄well-cooked mushrooms

All 3 of these superfoods have similar properties to support reduction of toxins in the gut, including:
〰️Contain antibacterial properties to support a healthy flora balance
〰️their fibers help to reduce excess stress hormones in the intestine
〰️They help to clean the lining of the gut wall & promote bowel transit time

RAW CARROT
🥕Best consumed raw, shredded, with coconut oil, vinegar & salt (see previous posts for salad recipe)
🥕Not everyone does well with raw carrots (due to the beta-carotene content or because they can’t digest the fibers) - mushrooms & bamboo shoots can be a good alternative

WELL-COOKED MUSHROOMS
🍄Contain high-quality non-irritating plant protein
🍄Best consumed boiled, at least 1-2 hours. This helps to reduce the plant toxins (hydrazine & agaritine) that are present in mushrooms

BAMBOO SHOOTS
🎋Best if boiled until soft, and consumed with some saturated fat & salt (great to add to stir fries)

It’s recommended to incorporate one of these into your diet DAILY to reap the benefits- even if you don’t have symptoms.

Most people go for the raw carrot because it is the easiest to prepare - but it’s ideal to switch it up between the 3!
