This lovely @schoepsmikrofone CMC5 with MK5 omni<>cardioid capsule came in with a ‘no output’ fault. Finding and fixing this issue was achieved (the two capacitors in the background needed replaced) but the main challenge came from that just-visible dent below where my index finger is. It’s less than 0.5mm deep but it made getting the mic’s innards out difficult. Getting them back in without causing damage was even harder; the capsule connector plate wouldn’t slide past the dent, and as the only support for it is the PCB you can’t use any significant force. Hammering the dent out would have damaged the barrel further. In the end a combination of very gentle compression on the sides of the barrel and a lot of patient wiggling got the job done. IMHO, this is a much better design than the newer CMC6 circuit. The older @schoepsmikrofone CMC are completely discreet in design, whilst the CMC6 has more complex circuitry for switching between varying supply voltages. Mic is fully serviced with matched capacitors in audio path (all Wima MKP), FET properly biased, capsule properly biased, HF phase response more linear, Panasonic FC capacitors for DC filtering…
Comes with MK5 capsule, sold today for 1100 euros.

This mic came from Radio France, French broadcast company. All the current Schoeps capsules works with this CMC3/5 body.
