It originated back in the 1920s during the production of the “Little Rascals” 🎭movie series. They attached roller skates to the underside of a 2”x 4”x 8” long wood board, and the topside with an apple box as a prop for the show’s entertainment. It wasn’t until equipment-innovations 🛹 and it’s popularity that it re-invented skateboarding as an amusement ☺️, transportation 🛴, and a competitive sport🏆

There have been many talented skateboarders 🛹 and surfers 🏄 in the past, but none had the style and iconic-charisma that kicked off skateboarding more successfully than “Jay *Z-boy* Adams.”
AKA: Radical-Rat 🐀, Zipperhead 🤐, & Z-Boy 👅
Two films have profiled and portrayed him in documentaries. They are the: “Lords Of Dogtown” and the “Dogtown And Z-Boys”

Jay pass away at age 53 on August 15th/2014 from a heart attack, leaving behind a daughter and son named seven. Two murals are displayed of Jay’s likeness at the Venice Beach California State Park and on the original Z-Boys hangout building on Main Street in Santa Monica. 🏤

In it’s infancy the stereotypical-social-contemporary description of Dogtown is mis-conceived 🤔 It is NOT a location, place, or group but merely a mindful awareness describing a territorial marking by the tagging an area with a graffiti-Message to identify a surfing 🏄🏻‍♀️ 🏄 privilege while alerting 🚨 non-locals to stay out of the water 🌊 of the then (1970-1982) described surfing area namely. The Cove” 🌊
Spray-Painting was a common primitive means of communication on a vacated (P.O.P.) building near by that read; “FOR LOCAL ONLY” meaning if a non-locals were to have tread on their turf they’d be in a world of Doghouse-trouble in “Dogtown” 🤭
