Ralph Rucci's rigorous technical skill and fundamental respect for the body are both rooted in his devotion to evolving the art of dressmaking. The design of this dress is biomorphic-it does not simply follow the superficial outlines of the body but responds to its internal structure. Precisely cut center-back panels evoke the vertebrae beneath, while cords that join the back and front sections echo the rib cage and the bands of muscle wrapping the torso. The effect accentuates the body while seamlessly integrating structure and ornament.
