I’m usually a red wine drinker, but I found a rose that I love. Vanderpump Rose by @vanderpumpwines is on the drier side (exactly how I like it) with refreshing hints of strawberry, tangerine, and peach. It’s the perfect rose for the summer. Grapes: Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Noir, roughly equal parts of each

Vineyard: Conley Vineyard in Yakima, Washington. 1700 feet elevation. Sandy soils. Certified organic.
Making of: the grapes are vinified separately. Marsanne and Grenache Blanc are both direct-pressed white wines. The Grenache Noir spends 30 days on skins, whole cluster maceration. Foot stomped 1-2 times daily. The wines are then aged in neutral French oak for 8 months. Blended and lightly sulfured at bottling, no fining or filtration.

Personality: fresh & chillable red-white coferment, showing the beautiful spiciness and flinty iron of the Southern-Rhone-valley grape trio used. Grapefruit, citrus, mineral note, best served slightly chilled.

100% Refošk (Refosco)| 12.5%ABV

Farming: Certified Organic. Every second row of the vineyard is empty and planted with grass. Only natural fertilizer produced from natural manure is allowed. The vineyards are worked without any irrigation. 

Vinification: After de-stemming the grapes are macerated with the pulp and skins for up to 8 days as spontaneous fermentation begins. The wine is then transferred into stainless steel tanks where it finishes the fermentation process. This wine was matured for 8 months in used French and Slovenian oak barrels, and then kept on its lees in stainless steel tanks and bottled unfiltered. 

Tasting Notes: The nose offers herbaceous aromas of hay and forest floor, red berries and spices. The body is medium, and the palate is fresh, elegantly balanced and mineral. The characteristic bright acidity of Refosco is harmoniously integrated with spicy fruit and velvety tannins. We recommend decanting and allowing the wine to breathe for 30 minutes before consuming. 

Delicious with fat and spice - pulled pork, smoked brisket and any grilled meat, Southern style gumbo, Asian dishes and any spicy sauces.
