On Finals Day, both sides were preparing themselves for the game.
Adrenaline pumping, excitement in the air, supporters c/w banners all taking their spots along the railings on all floors!
Finals day marked the return of FBB's goalie, Ashley Schewaga due to the unavailability of Matty. We were also down by one player – Taehun.
The moment the puck dropped for the start of P1, supporters from both sides started cheering loudly! Some good team work, attacking and counter attacking plays were exhibited by both sides. FBB drew first blood in the 6th minute through Gabriel (a/b Vinita). The score held until the 13th minute when RA's Wan Adam scored. The period ended RA 1 : 1 FBB.
When P2 commenced, the tempo was upped by both sides but some resolute defending by both sides saw the score remain, until the 6th minute when a lapse in concentration allowed RA to take the lead through Wan Adam (a/b Haidan). However, two minutes later, FBB levelled the score through Jaythesh (a/b Gabriel). The period ended RA 2 : 2 FBB.
Continuing from the previous period, the pace in P3 went up a couple of notches seeing as both sides eagerly wanting to lead and win. Solid defending by both sides saw the score unchanged but in the 9th minute, during a power-play moment, FBB scored through Carmen (a/b Jaythesh)! With the exception of some anxious moments in the remaining few minutes, the game ended RA 2 : 3 FBB! Final tally for shots-on-goal was RA 9 : FBB 14!
We won! We won the Championship!!! At our 3rd attempt, FrostBiters has won the President's League Trophy! It has been a long, tiring and (at times) trying journey for the Club, to get to this point.
Aside from securing the Championship, both FB Teams ended the season 2nd and 3rd in the League. With determination, hard work and patience, we have proven we can overcome!
A round of applause and well done to Team RA, who fought the good fight. Last but not least, thank you to MIHF and the League Committee for organising the 2017/18 Junior League.
