I (finally) finished reading Tithe yesterday and I enjoyed it! I definitely like TCP series more, but this one was a solid read! I started Valiant last night and I'm a tad confused, but hoping everything will be explained 😂

But Candace is carrying a secret she knows Bob will exploit. Should she escape from her rescuers?
I found Severance to be a little disappointing. For a dystopian novel about the end of the world...not much happens and everything that does happen...happens very slowly. Which, I don't know, might be how something like this would actually happen? But for a book it made it a little bit boring. There's a lot of back and forth between pre-, post- and during the fever but it doesn't happen in any sort of chronological order which isn't confusing in any sense, but a little distracting. Especially because there's a big chunk in the middle where we go quite a while without any sort of fever talk. I also found Candace too boring to follow. She lets life happen to her without really taking any sort of control and I find this type of person to be incredibly infuriating. She doesn't have any friends, or family, or personality. I actually found Bob to be the most interesting character but it might be because he's the second most talked about character. You don't really get to know anybody else. I actually liked the ending though. The last quarter of the book really picked up for me. You start to see more of the fever and how it effects NY and what lead to Candace leaving the city. You also jump between the current time and the past a little more quickly which I think drives the novel forward in a more interesting way. Ling is a talented writer and I loved her descriptions of the apocalyptic world.

It was tough!! But here are my current top picks! I still need to read others, so this could change weekly!!!! Not pictured is Dark Matter by Blake Crouch - I don’t own it but would have included it!
