The cold has crept in, and being a customer of Duke Energy I take every opportunity to provide myself heat without turning on the furnace.

This means I surround myself with piles of blankets and dogs. I switch over from my summertime short satin robes to floor length wraps lined with pelts from the fall hunt. And…I make frequent trips to the stove to warm my hands over a skillet full of spinach, red onion, fake hot Italian sausage, and melty yellow cheese.

Just salt and pepper here and everything cooked in a drizzle of olive oil. The fake Italian hot sausage provided some fake fat from its fake casing. 

This combination was very good and I plan to turn it into a casserole with some pasta or rice or potatoes or all of those things. I’ll wait for another chilly night when an hour at 350 degrees will warm the entire cabin, rolling out my sleeping pallet on the kitchen floor. Stay tuned for that recipe on the website, which should be ready by the spring thaw.

Started the night with dinner at Lidia’s near downtown KC. Service was incredible and the food was amazing. Tried multiple items on the menu including the Frico, Gnocchi, Osso Buco, finishing with the Tiramisu. Ended the night seeing @themercyme perform at Cable Dahmer Arena. Not many better ways to spend a Saturday!
