If I have to choose my all time favourite series, it will definitely be Lord if the Rings and anything related to Middle Earth by Prof. Tolkien. When I saw the prompt plant, this is the first thing that popped into my mind. Though this was way too difficult for me to do, since I’m the noobest noob in inking, but yeah the challenge was fun ngl. Treebeard, the largest and oldest of the Ents remaining in Arda was described by Gandalf as:

“[A] large Man-like, almost Troll-like, figure, at least fourteen foot high, very sturdy, with a tall head, and hardly any neck. Whether it was clad in stuff like green and grey bark, or whether that was its hide, was difficult to say. At any rate the arms, at a short distance from the trunk, were not wrinkled, but covered with a brown smooth skin. The large feet had seven toes each. The lower part of the long face was covered with a sweeping grey beard, bushy, almost twiggy at the roots, thin and mossy at the ends. But at the moment the hobbits noted little but the eyes. You can tell which ones are the first stitches versus when I kind of get the hang of it. I learned a lot of things, got good at french knots (for a beginner!) and realized that woven wheels are NOT that easy 😤. Embroidery can be very punishing but its nice to be forced to slow down and be delicate when needed.

I also learned that I need to do a mock up with colors on the sketch so that the palette doesnt get out of control but it's okay and I made a few changes from the original design and I'm happy with how it turned out. It's imperfect but it's mine.

I have been so excited to start sharing the beautiful images Joy of @thewitchinghourphotography made for me. She is so gifted and each one comes out looking fantastic. We did a series on magical creatures and this one reminds me of the ent wives or tree shepherdesses from LOTR. This image was ambitious and experimental, and we weren’t totally sure how it would come out. We just knew we wanted to try some kind of human tree transformation. I thought about the lost ent wives while she was shooting and tried to channel some of that sad and beautiful story. Then Joy worked her crazy editing magic and we got THIS. It blew through my expectations and I’m pinching myself that I got to be a part of making something this cool. I’m so grateful I got to work with Joy. She is such a talented and dedicated artist, and I’m honored that she was willing to suggest something so unique on our shoot. Can’t wait to share the rest!
