The notorious Guinea Pig series, released on this beautiful box set by Unearthed Films, is one of my most prized horror possessions! I wish I could share more than 10 photos per post, because this box set has so much awesome imagery.

My favorite of these titles is He Never Dies. We follow a depressed guy who pretty much has nothing good going for him. He becomes suicidal and wants to end it all. He goes home and slits his wrists, however the blood stops quickly and he feels no pain. He is both confused and bummed that he is still living, so he then tries several other methods of self mutilation to test his new situation. This movie is packed full of weird shit, hilarious laughs, and great practical gore effects!!

Today I watched 'The Android Of Notre Dame' and 'Devil Woman Doctor' (Guinea Pig 5 and 6 respectively). The former is a body-horror movie about a scientist who turns a man into a revolting cyborg, whereas the latter is an incredibly lame series of gross-out sketches. This 6th and final movie is a definite low-point for the series and unsurprisingly seemed to have killed the franchise.

This is the vhs release of "Android of notre dame" the 5th part in the series.
It seems like this lable only had the rights to 2 out of the 6 japanese guinea pig movies, wich is really wierd to me lol.
Android is such a weird release in this series made up mostly of serious splatter movies and a few comedies, in that its more of a drama then any of the former two. It still comes with a ton of great effects and a bunch of cool gore tho :3

The idea for this series was from manga artist Hideshi Hino. The series focuses on graphic violence, gore, mutilation, torture and murder. The special effects are convincing especially in the one, “Flowers of Flesh and Blood”. That one is like a simulated snuff film. It was so convincing that word has it actor Charlie Sheen saw it and believed it was a snuff film and reported it to the authorities. These films are extremely graphic and sick. However “He Never Dies” mixes up the graphic special effects with humor. I believe these dvds was the first release from Unearthed Films. They are hugely popular now, have a dedicated audience and have a huge catalog of other sick but entertaining movies. They even have books and action figures from their label. It seems they were the only studio to have the balls to release “A Serbian Film” uncensored on disc in America. Unearthed Films started producing their own Guinea Pigs series years later entitled “American Guinea Pig” which benefit from superior special effects compared to the special effects in the Japanese series. There is another entry in the Japanese series called “Devil Woman Doctor” which is the wackiest in the series. Got sooooo hype when I saw this and imediatly grabbed it hahah. This is the second original guinea pig tape in my collection. Another big step towards the full set :3. Also honestly live the movie, definetly top 3 guinea pig movie imo.
