What I did like was they embraced smart young ladies who were strong in their own right but still had alot to learn. Also, if you still haven't learned this but "Dont judge a book by it's cover." The two leads are magnificent and I cant wait to see what they do next and as a directorial debute from Olivia Wilde...damn. If you haven't seen it you should you wont regret it.

this movie was amazing and loved every minute of it... it’s like a Mexican superhero movie, but it sucks that Hollywood passed on this film and why it’s on limited release... after a gang leader named Shotgun murdered several members of his own gang, LAPD detective Diego Hernandez learns a connection between them and the death of his brother Pedro... so he realizes that his brother was gonna resurrect the masked vigilante named El Chicano in order to repel the incursion lead by the Mexican cartel... this was definitely a dark superhero film (cough cough DC maybe) and was full of so much action but leads to a series of deaths until he gets his revenge, although if it does well let’s hope it continues on... I haven’t heard of these actors except for George Lopez, but the acting was kinda okay and the writing was done well too... and loved the styles of colors used throughout the fighting sequences, especially the heavy use of red when he would enter... was a very good film that I enjoyed, coming off the tails of avengers... Ethan Hawke can do no wrong... this movie was based on a true but absurd 1973 bank heist and hostage crisis in Stockholm that was later identified as the Stockholm syndrome in the New Yorker... this was wildly funny, especially Ethan’s character bc he was trying to be so serious at times, but acting like the funny man here, and the supporting characters were pretty good too... I hadn’t heard of this story before but the way it was portrayed on screen, they did an amazing job... and since it’s set in the 70s, they got the color styles done so well and beautiful cinematography shots too... you start to feel sympathy for his character and actually root for him to win and get away with it all, but of course he FINALLY gets detained.... Kate is a career focused woman and enjoys her life with a brash attitude and keeps relationships at arms length making her an outcast in her own right... so she ends up taking care of her niece who wants nothing more than to run away and become a juggalo... for those of you who don’t know this but a juggalo is an insane clown posse or other psychopathic records hip hop groups who are outcasts and just wants a place to fit in... it was a bit bizarre but the whole being apart of a family(whether it’s ur own or being apart of something else) it had some emotional experiences, but the acting wasn’t good, but I did like Taylor’s character a lot and being the bad ass she was... and the niece did a good job too... and that’s a good thing for me... I absolutely loved this movie and loved the whole styling of the film with all of its vibrant colors and nice mixture of lighting, and it has an amazing soundtrack too... being a pop lover myself probably helped me enjoy this more... This story is about a small town girl who dreams of becoming a pop star all with the help of an unlikely mentor... she enters a singing competition and the rest is history... who knew Elle Fanning could sing and does a great job, and with the directorial debut of Max, he does so much good to this masterpiece... and every song fits so well for each scene... Yes this kinda story has been told before (a star is born) but this gives us a more modern feel to it and a fresh take on what its like to become a pop star, the rise and falls show a lot... and you gotta give it up to Zlatko for doing such an amazing job with his role as the mentor... they both has good chemistry... Even down to the just-above-whisper background conversations, every word chosen with purpose: sometimes satirical, always eye-opening.
